24 Solo

According to the film's producers, "24 Solo follows the gut-wrenching story of Chris Eatough on his quest for a 7th World Title in the unforgiving discipline of 24 Hour Solo mountain bike racing. In the face of increased pressure from sponsors, new competitors to the sport and a pregnant wife, Chris focuses his entire season on one race. Dark horse Australian National Champion, Craig Gordon challenges Chris to rise to a level of intensity never before seen in the sport."

My wife and I just saw this film last night at the Arlington Cinema and Draft House in Arlington, VA. We loved it, but I doubt I'll be riding any 24 hour races solo after watching it! Definitely check it out...Two thumbs up!

*24 Solo* Great MTB film to say the least!      [ top of page ]

First of all thanks to YourMTB for the tickets. Boulder is a great town with a great cycling community. Make sure to check out Walker Ranch loop if you are in the mood for some good climbing/singletrack. The theater was packed with a mixture of young and seasoned riders as well as families and couples. Overall a great vibe. But now for the review. "24 Solo" was extremely well written and produced. The cinematography was excellent and they producers did a great job mixing the seriousness of 24 hour racing with a few lighthearted moments that kept the audience intrigued. The film touched base on Chris Eatough's desire to win #7 but didn't go into to much personal background (which I was hoping to see more of especially why he liked 24 hour racing...how he got started in endurance racing..why he is choosing to race instead of cash in on an $ Engineering degree....) The film kept you interested and involved the entire time and I never wondered "how much longer will this scene/race last." Either way the filmmakers did a great job portraying a 24 hour race with the use of special camera lenses, angles, and helmet cams. The audience got a true feel of the course and the effort that goes into racing 24 hours. I also really liked the "human factor" which you will see with the Australian Racer. (See the film to understand!) The scenes really make you appreciate the MTB culture. Put it this way...I am already looking forward to watching "24 Solo" again with my friends and am looking at checking out "Off Road to Athens" (another MTB movie from the same team) as well. This is a great movie that I highly recommend checking out.
