A conversation with a Giant

By walker on 9/13/2006 on walker's blog

Have you heard a mountain bike mechanic describe his or herpassions, lately? Did they talk about this:

- The stupid rain

- A hard-technical-uphill-over-rock-thing

- That Chupacabra presence

- What's on for Friday?

Well, good. Then you probably know my mechanic friend.

My friend, the mechanic, and I talked about the World Cup New Zealand race scene. He's a mechanic so I heard about the most random of events in the pits. Such as:

- Parking lot fights with the racers

- Philosophical debates about road stems

- Bike chain oiling weight

I was very interested in this perspective. Especially considering my friend's passionate tone. We also talked about downhill racing, xc racing, trials and the new 29'ers coming to market. Again, the passion came through.

The important thing to consider is to always surround yourself with passionate people. OK, well, maybe that's not the point, but when you combine a veteran mountain bike mechanic with passion, then you get some good stories.

What is the name of your shop? Have you told them about yourmtb.com?

The name of the shop is Bike Wave. I need to tell them about this site. (I keep forgetting, sorry)
