yourmtb.com swap shop?

By BigAgnes on 11/12/2006

Here's a sugestion...

How about a swap shop here on yourmtb.com?

Other sites have an area where users can post items that they might want to swap for other items. It's an awesome deal at bike shows and other events, and some users could really benefit from it. We could post the item in it's very own forum. What does everyone think?

Washington Bound...

By BigAgnes on 11/1/2006

Okay...I need some help. I'm moving to Gig Harbor, Washington in about six weeks.I know that Washington is a hotbed of MTB action, but I'm wondering about the Gig Harbor area. It's just Southwest of Vachon Island (Former home of K2), so their must be something cooking there. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here comes the sun...

By BigAgnes on 10/28/2006

Ahhh, the rain has finally stopped. After three days of constant rain, the sun has promised to peek out from behind those fall clouds. Today, I can get my butt back on the bike. I cannot wait.

Rain, Rain go away...come back another day!

By BigAgnes on 10/26/2006

Today is the first day that I will not be able to ride to work in months, because of the weather (sigh...). It has been raining steadily for hours, with no relief in sight...winter is actually approaching. Although I realize that it would be ridiculous to ride in on the bike today, I can't help but wonder...maybe it's not that bad. It is that bad though, and I know this to be true because my "Second Opinion" is laying next to me, giving me that crazy look...but then again...she always gives me that look. Nope, it is suicide to ride in...I will have to take my truck...now where are the damn keys anyway...they were right here last month!

New Gear to Review

By BigAgnes on 10/25/2006
TREK Winter Trainer

Ok, so I recently picked up some new gear, and for the benefit of all here, I intend to put it all through the ringer over the next week, and to let you all know how it performed. It's getting rather cold in my neck of the woods, so it all kind of centers around trying to stay warm on those long rides...like my commute in the morning. What I will be reviewing are:

1. TREK Winter Trainer Jacket
2. TREK Balaclava
3. Manzella "Lobster" Gloves

I will let you all know in one week where they stand.

29 Inches...Now that's big!

By BigAgnes on 10/24/2006

Okay...I've been reading a lot about these 29ers...and I have decided to put it to the website...what do you people think of them?

I understand the geometry, and the fact that the design is supposed to conserve energy and all of that, but are we looking at innovation here, or merely a fad? I have attached a link to a well-known website so that all of you can make an educated decision. I probably will not be running to my local shop to purchase some big wheels any time soon, but I would really appreciate the opinions of those here on the site. Thanks a lot and have a great ride.

The Youngest Mechanic on the Planet

By BigAgnes on 10/22/2006

Ahhh, today was a wonderful day. My five year old son, Gehrig, decided to switch out his antique pedals for some new ones. It was awesome to see him choose the proper tool for the job, and for him to work off his old ones, figure out which ones went where, and for him to muscle on his new ones. He is truly a mechanic in the making.

Man loses 100 Pounds in 12 Months

By BigAgnes on 10/20/2006

I read a great story about this guys who decided that he absolutely needed to lose some weight. He was hovering at about 350 Pounds, and things were out of control. He bought himself a Beach Cruiser, and for the next six months, he would bike 1 mile a day...that's it, just 1 mile a day. He lost 50 pounds in the first six months. As a reward, he added an additional mile to his daily regimen. For the next six months, he would bike 2 miles a day. He then lost an additional 50 pounds over the next six months, for a total of 100 pounds in 12 months. Is that amazing or what? The power of two wheels

The Tide is changing

By BigAgnes on 10/20/2006

Today, and amazing thing happened.

Everyday, I ride several miles to work. I ride them alone. It's a time to reflect, plan my day, and race the cars that try to keep up with me. Today however, an amazing thing happened. As I turned the corner near my house onto the main road, I had to merge with a "New" cyclist on MY road. Every day, I pass these cars wondering what they're thinking as I pass...now I know that at least was wondering what it would be like to be out there himself. It was awesome. If the person that I saw is reading this...well then, you can share MY road anytime. Thanks.
