By BrandonST on 1/16/2008 I see a lot of new and improved bikes and components come out, all designed to make the riding experience better for us mountain bikers, which is great. But there is a downside to it, and this realization came from something one of my buddies said on a ride last year. |

Motivation
By BrandonST on 1/11/2008 I think I need some help. I've been through a rough patch with work lately, and finally getting back into a happy place. With all the crap that went on though, I lost all motivation. I was seriously depressed. The sad part was, that when I forced myself out for a ride, I felt worlds away, and all the worry and stress melted away. The catch 22 of the matter was, that most of the time, I was too down and couldn't motivate myself to get out there. |
Branching Out
By BrandonST on 1/10/2008 I recently (well, in the spring) had my first true downhill mtb experience at Blue Mountain in Collingwood. I knew I would enjoy it, but didn't quite understand how much it would suck me in. It was me and my buddy, who decided to stick it out riding his Devinci Hucker dirt jump bike. I was lucky enough to have just gotten my Kona Dawg, so I at least had 5.5" of travel front and back. My legs and arms were killing me by the end of the day, and my buddy was pretty much useless for the rest of the weekend, being bounced around like the Plinko chip on The Price Is Right. |

Winter Riding
By BrandonST on 1/8/2008 Last post, I talked about it getting darker so much earlier...well, I've had something a little more troublesome to contend with lately...snow. Living in Canada, we're pretty much guaranteed to have 5 good months of miserable weather, from muddy to snowy, then back to muddy again. Right now, I'm in the snowy stage. I went out and bought myself a studded tire, some proper gloves, put on my snowmobile boots, and off I went, hyperactive dog in tow. |
Darkness Approaches
By BrandonST on 9/27/2007 Well, that time is almost upon us. The days are slowly shortening, and will soon be lost, spent looking out from a soul-less cubicle, through a dingy window. I have recently started a new job, one that doesn't allow for much flexibility, which means, it doesn't allow for much riding...I haven't been out in weeks, and it's killing me! Within a few weeks, I will head to work in the dark, and head home in the dark; what a depressing thought. |
