Check out this video. Have you ever seen racers look so hot? Well, at the Chalk Creek Stampede in Nathrop, Colorado, last weekend, it was very hot, and windy. These racers are beginning the race with smiles and excitement. Later, I saw many of these same racers with the same smile on their face when they crossed the finish line. You might think that Chalk Creek Stampede is just another stop on the Mountain States Cup series, but you would be mistaken. Now, why is that, Walker? The answer to this question is simple: the course. The Chalk Creek Stampede course is unlike any of the Mountain States Cup races. It is flat, fast and very aerobic. ... I thought I was going to have a heart attack out there. What's more, some of the Salida and Buena Vista locals come out to attack the out-of-towners like me. Talk about being mean. The race is also one of the best races to do if you are a beginner. None of the "technical" sections were too difficult. Like I said earlier, the course is relatively flat, so you won't be busting your legs, and lungs, up some gnarly technical hill.
