By Steve Outing on 5/5/2007 on I had my heart set on riding today (Saturday), so I convinced a couple friends to give it a go this morning anyway and try Boulder's Walker Ranch Loop. Worst case, we get a little wet, or encounter some slippery trails. (It snowed in the higher elevations last night.) Forecast was more dire than reality, fortunately, and we had crisp but otherwise great weather. The sun even peeked out a short way into the ride. Walker seems to have suffered some erosion in parts over the winter, but it's still a great moderate-to-strenuous trail. (7.6 miles and 1700 ft of elevation gain; on this trail you're either going up or down -- nearly never flat.) Walker is usually a serious workout for me, but today it was killer. I don't know what's up with me, but I felt really sluggish and out of shape. Two weeks ago on a spring trip to Moab, no problem, but today I felt yucky. Cause: Too much work, not enough riding and exercise. Gotta remedy that! |
Don't believe the weather forecast
