Go! - pic taken by Metal Mike

1 minute into the race my seat post bolt came loose and my seat pointed to the sky. I thought my seat was actually broken and that I was going to have to bail out. It came loose even more about 1 mile in. I rode like this all the way through end of Sunrise and caught the girl in front of me by the time I hit Butcher. I got off at the intersection and fixed it, loosing at least a minute.

Charged down Butcher, and caught the girl in front of me about 2 miles later. She stayed close behind me until I hit the mountain on my left, taking out a huge chunk of rock and started a small avalanche. Before the rocks could stop falling, I was back on the bike, pack all twisted around and helmet crooked. I could hear her saying "wow, you do get up fast ... " as I sped away. I wiped out one more time on Butcher, but was back on the bike pretty quick.

Survived the rest of the ride without incident other than the standard suffer-fest on the climb and the semi-out-of-body-experience on first.

After finishing, I didn't feel so great. I started seeing spots and felt faint. I ended up chucking next to the stage and got hauled 2 blocks away in an ambulance, which was a bit overkill since I was only dehydrated. My friends were kind enough to snap tons of photos of the whole spectacle. Good times. Still got 2nd.

Thanks to Capm and Tod for keeping my spirits high in the infirmary. You guys rock.

Glad you're still OK. Did Richie send you all the photos I took of the incident on his camera? You nearly filled that puke bag with bright orange recovery drink. Didn't spill a drop. Looked about as appetizing on the way up as it does on the way down.

Wow, I sure couldn't tell at the party on Sunday evening that you had gotten sick after the race. Nice recovery!

oh man, yeah, Rich Sent me a couple pics, but I'm waiting for the rest. We're going to have to do a slide show.

And yea Jason, as soon as I finished showering myself with Crackers and water I felt a lot better. The best part was I missed the podium because I was in the clinic.

Ah! I thought that the one in your blog looked like one of mine. Since I know you are an avid photo-blogger, I took it as my duty to collect photo-evidence of the incident for the archives. There should be at least 10 pics. I saw them last night, in the Marin Brew Co, after our night ride. None of them too embarassing ....unfortunately.
