August is here, and I've been looking forward to a roadtrip to Mammoth. But first I had to take a spill in the powder at Northstar, which led to two week layoff. A couple broken bones in my right toe, bruised bone on left quad. Ugh.

Any favorite rides in the Mammoth Lakes area?

This is my first post, so I thought I would give a little introduction. I am a long time rider, having ridden hard tails since the early '90s all over the West. In the past few years I've been bitten by the downhill bug, and have been riding Northstar and Mammoth ever since. I ride a Specialized Enduro and a Trek full suspension bike. I'm not a competitor, but I love the thrill of the ride.

I am a writer specializing in scientific fiction. I am in the process of rewriting my first MTB novel, Ten Dog Fog. So I love to hear stories from other riders.
