By Kevin on 3/9/2008 on Kevin's blog Augusta GA is best known as an old, beautiful city located 150 miles east of Atlanta. It is one of the largest cities in the state. Though there is a relatively large population (about 200,000 people), the city maintains a wonderful aesthetic with tree-lined streets and rivers running all around it. The scenery in Augusta GA is something everyone can appreciate. And there is no better way to see August GA than to get on your mountain bike and hit some of the many trails in the area. Every ride is great one and there are tracks for riders of all skill levels. Augusta GA is more than just a mountain biking haven; it is the second oldest city in the state and it has a rich past. There are many historically significant places which should interest any history buff. The city has a few museums and numerous important locations. Some noteworthy attractions include the boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson, and the oldest African American church. The waters surrounding the area keep the climate relatively mild during all seasons, and so the prime riding season is a bit longer than you might expect. The average temperature doesn’t drop below 40 in the coldest months and above 81 during the warmest. There are so many reasons to go mountain biking in Augusta GA. But, if you live close by or if you are taking a trip to GA, it is a great place to visit even without a bike just to take in the scenery and the history. |
