Mountain Biking Formally Introduced in Jamaica

On Sunday, January 27th, the president of the Jamaica Cycling Federation,
Vaughn Phang, was in Los Angeles meeting with other leads to discuss increasing
the prominence of cycling in the region.

The meeting resulted in him announcing plans to introduce mountain biking and
BMX as an elite sport in Jamaica. Phang learned a lot in the meeting regarding
funding, administration and other areas in which he’d have to focus to truly
bring mountain biking to the country.

For mountain bikers worldwide, hopefully this means the establishment of more
mountain biking trails in Jamaica. Jamaica has wonderful weather and a beautiful
countryside, which could make it a great destination for mountain bikers in the
future.
