Ok, so I recently picked up some new gear, and for the benefit of all here, I intend to put it all through the ringer over the next week, and to let you all know how it performed. It's getting rather cold in my neck of the woods, so it all kind of centers around trying to stay warm on those long rides...like my commute in the morning. What I will be reviewing are: 1. TREK Winter Trainer Jacket I will let you all know in one week where they stand. |

New Gear to Review |

OK, so I told you all that I would give a quick review of the above mentioned products...well here it goes. The jacket was awesome. It was promised to not only provide a certain degree of warmth, but also to act as a windbreaker...and that it did. The color stood out well on those early morning rides, and the fleece collar felt nice. there are three pockets located in the rear of the jacket, for the odds and ends that you may find youself carrying. In addition, it is lengthier in the rear, so as to keep those howling winds at bay. All in all, it is an outstanding jacket. I give it 4 out of 5 cogs (****) The mittens were used the very next day, and let me tell you...these are my new best friends. The design is made to allow you to operate the brakes with ease, without sacrificing warmth...nice. These will get a lot of use this winter. The only thing that I could say, is that they were pricy at $65. Bike Nashbar at www.nashbar.com makes a cheaper pair at like $29, but I have no idea if they perform as well. All in all, for my pair, I give them 4 out of a possibly 5 cogs (****). The Balaclava performed well. It did it's job, but seemed a little cumbersome. I will say though that it definitely kept me warm. 3 out of a possible 5 cogs here (***). Take care, and see you on the road. Cheers, "I Will Never Draw Ethical Circles Around The Things That I Do". |
