By richclydesdale on 7/20/2008 I did it. I took a ride today for the first time in 9 months. My legs are sore. Not as sore as they normally would be, however, I got all jacked up on creatine and OJ a few hours before leaving. I'm feeling pretty good. Endorohins are flowing, I'm going to sleep good tomight! |

I did it!
Look out! Here comes a fat guy on a mountain bike!
|
By richclydesdale on 7/19/2008 I put new tubes and tires with a less aggressive tread on the beast last night. I rode down the block and back. All I can say is that it was like getting felt up by the prom queen before the dance. I have been twitchy and distracted ever since I hung the bike back up in the shop. I have something I have to do with the family this morning, and then I have a side job to do in my shop. I am going to have move the bike to where I can't see it while I'm working or I won't be able to concentrate. |
Time to ride!

By richclydesdale on 7/6/2008 I have been off the bike since last October. I got pneumonia and got promoted to a position that burns a lot of time. I have hit 240 lbs. AND THAT'S IT! I am tired of being tired. I am tired of having to exhale all my air just to tie my shoes. I am tired of being a fatt ass and sweating at the thought of doing something. Heck, my wife doesn't....well, If you went from 210lbs of bulging leg muscles to a blob of fat, what would your wife "think" of you? |

Endorphine Junky off the wagon!

By richclydesdale on 1/19/2008 Last weekend was the first time in three months I rode (I had pneumonia). So I felt the high Monday through Wednesday, and crashed Thursday. As life would have it, Thursday AND Friday were two days of REALLY BAD NEWS. Thursday, I got a pay cut. Friday, my dad called to tell me that my mother has a malignant mellanoma, and she is going in for surgury on Monday. They do not know how deep it is, and she will be an chemo EVERYDAY. The thing is, I know she's not strong enough to survive that kind of treatment. She's not well besides the cancer, and has not been well for a very long time. |
Adorn the Gord!

By richclydesdale on 1/15/2008 I came down with pneumonia in October. I just got the last bit of yuk out of my lungs in the past few weeks. I feel significantly better. I have my strength back, but what aerobic ability I did build up from this past year's riding season seems to be gone...if not a little worse than I started with. I read that fully recovering from pneumonia can take up to a year. |
MTBer VS. 2 Pitt Bulls and a Mutt

By richclydesdale on 9/13/2007 I had scarey experience yesterday. I finally got my Goose (Mongoose) fixed and after not riding for two or three weeks for any considerable distance, I was chomping at the bit to go! I decided to take a nice fairly-flat road ride to the Ouchita River. With all the rain over the past few days, it should have been a sight. |
