By Zachary1873 on 6/15/2007 on Zachary1873's blog Well this last weekend I went to Sciot State Park to ride the trails there with a group of MTBers that go by the name of the spokejunkies. (www.spokejunkies.com) This was a great group of people. The trails at Scioto state park are for the more advanced so of course I was the last rider in pack. The uphill climbs are enough to make the most advanced riders stop and take a break. I rode as far as I could and walked the rest of the way. After reaching the summit, the ride back down was awesome. I am talking about some fast technical downhill that goes on for about a mile at a time. Each downhill section poses different challenges. some offer very steep inclines, some rolling inclines where speed is a necessity, and other pose root hazards and loose rocks. Definitely check it out if you all get a chance! |

Scioto State Park Ride |

Can you tell us the course that you took at Scioto? |

pjfinch, Here is all the info I can give you. From Columbus, Ohio :23 south through Chillicothe. Keep going straight to the Scioto State Park sign on your left. Take this main road a few miles until you see the Park Ranger Station on your left. Turn left there. Go about a hundred yards and turn left at the Dam area. Park Here. There are numerous routes to take so get a map! The group I went with knew the trails. The main trail we started on was near the ranger station where we parked. I would suggest gitting a map of the trails. Do not go out on this trail alone! if you wreck bad which can happen it could be very dangerous for a solo rider. If you are interested in riding this trail visit the Spokejunkies.com website join for free so you can post in the forum and ask if anyone is interested in riding there with you or if anyone can give you some pointers. They have a review of Scioto State Park on the website under the heading other trails. Be sure to check it out there too. Hope this helps! |

ok thanks! I used to ride there a lot and then the horses pretty much destroyed it. The Spokejunkies said that they rode some trails in good shape last weekend and I just wondered exactly which ones are now rideable. I use the gravel roads there to train in the winter when all the trails everywhere are mush. It is an awesome place and there was a time that you could do epic rides there by connecting the trails with the forest roads. Great Seal seems to be the place now and the trails there are all maintained well. |

I tell you what, we will have to get a ride going at Great Seal some time this summer as I have never ridden it before. |
