Sick of Hibernation

Oh, The Good Life.

OK, now I don't know how the rest of the country is right now, but I am a little sick of waiting for the snow to melt away. Here in the mid-west we are usually blessed with somewhat of a milder winter. Temperatures kind of are on the cold side, but I can deal with that. What I am talking about is the 4-5 inches of snow once a week in combination with our sub-zero temperatures. I love to ride, but not in my basement on my trainer, and I am sick of the gym. I miss the single track. I am very eager to get back on the trails, and here in Nebraska we not only have to wait for the thaw. We have to wait for the drying of the trails, so as not to destroy the weird soil we have here. So I unwillingly have to wait, probably, until spring. But I have to tell you, I miss the smell of the evergreens, the sound of the leaves and soil crunching under my tires, and waiting for other cyclists on the trail so I can show them my skills, and then spitting the blood out of my mouth after the crash when I realize I shouldn't show off. Is anyone else out there having withdrawals from the trails. I know there are plenty of other activities out there, but I miss my bike.

Ahmen brother! Corporal Punishment and I are going to Lake Tahoe for a week in June. That is my motivation to get though the winter. Im tired of being wet and cold.

I hear you! Here in Boulder (CO), this winter sucks big time. It feels like I moved to Chicago or Minneapolis. We usually have mild winters and can fit in a ride here and there any month of the year between snowstorms. We'll be lucky if any trails dry out by March. Global warming = more extreme weather, and we're getting it this year.

I got my new bike in December, and I feel your pain. It hasn't even seen a trail yet. Probably not until spring, and the trails have dried up.

Brother I'm giving you a loud AMEN! Tahoe is on my mind and in my heart. But I need to get out and ride around some of our local spots just to get ready for the trip. I look at my bike in the garage and it's begging me to take it out.
