OK, so it is that time of the year when fall kills the light. Already, I've been on at least 15 night rides. Are you a night rider? If so, then you'll be happy to know that night riding isn't for the faint at heart. Below is a recent chat conversation with one of my favorite night riding buddies...
Walker Thompson says: What do you like best about night riding?
Jay Rush says: The moon in your eyes!
Walker Thompson says: Besides the obvious...
Jay Rush says: 1 its different and challenging
Walker Thompson says: 2???
Jay Rush says: 2 its different from anything anybody else is doing
Jay Rush says: 3 its still a perfect temperature to roost and not be uncomfortable
Jay Rush says: 4 did I mention the ninjas?
Jay Rush says: 5 practical: you can still ride even if its dark
Walker Thompson says: Last night, we killed it up on Telegraph and then hit the downhill. How much slower do you think you ride at night going downhill:
10%
Walker Thompson says: 20%
30%
Jay Rush says: 15
Walker Thompson says: Have you ever been chased by a Skin Walker?
Walker Thompson says: At night?
Jay Rush says: I scrub speed sometimes during the day, its more fluid at night
Jay Rush says: Shhh! What was that? Oh gross he's drunk and naked.
Walker Thompson says: Exactly...
Walker Thompson says: When you say scrub speed, what do you mean?
Jay Rush says: I flow more when i have to ride slow, so i dont take corners as sloppy at night as I do during the day... less margin for error
Walker Thompson says: Thanks Jay...
