By walker on 2/19/2008 on walker's blog The 24 Hours of Old Pueblo has to be my favorite 24-hour race, but I didn't go this year! Why? Well, I was skiing with a friend I haven't seen in a long time, so shoot me. Those that did go were blessed wtih an incredible race, as usual! The 24 Hours of Old Pueblo is a combination of cactus, sand, cool people and great desert scenes. The race is held in Tucson, AZ with usually warm temps at the start, a little wind in the afternoon and a brisk evening for night riding. The whole scene is a blast. There are lots of gear tents, some serving up burritos and coffee. While other vendors provide all the necessary racing gear; just in case you forgot something! Typically, there is a big Durango contingent heading South for the race, which again I wasn't part of this year. We peel off the warm-weather clothes in favor of a little sunshine. Those from So. Cal, AZ and New Mexico, have had the sun, so they rally hard for one of the best races of the year. I took a quick look at the unofficial results to get an idea on times this year: Solo Male: Kimo Seymour Solo Female: Hiedi Clayton Duo Male: Duo Female: Susan Haywood and Spring Clegg For a full listing of all the results continue here...
