By BrandonST on 1/8/2008 on BrandonST's blog Last post, I talked about it getting darker so much earlier...well, I've had something a little more troublesome to contend with lately...snow. Living in Canada, we're pretty much guaranteed to have 5 good months of miserable weather, from muddy to snowy, then back to muddy again. Right now, I'm in the snowy stage. I went out and bought myself a studded tire, some proper gloves, put on my snowmobile boots, and off I went, hyperactive dog in tow. I'm not too sure what I expected, but combine a hefty winter "coat" with the fact that it's -14 celcius and I'm wearing some serious thermal excessories and you've got one heck of a work out. After about 45 minutes of trudging through varying degrees of snow thickness and levels of being packed, I was just about ready to lay down and let the blissful peace of hypothermia overcome me. Suffice it to say, Zoe, my hyperactive dog was a little disappointed when I decided that I should turn around and head home. Another obvious fact became quite clear, I had gone a little far, and now had to return that same distance to get to my car. With a lot of winter sweating, cursing, and having to call back my dog, I made it to the car. All in all, it was an amazing time, and I will be heading out this weekend for another kick at the cat! May not be the fastest, most exciting riding, but the scenery is amazing, the trails are peaceful, and is sure beats sitting on a spin bike. |
