By Steve Outing on 10/30/2006 on Steve Outing's blog A friend took this short video of my first-ever attempt at riding the "Toilet Bowl" near Moab, Utah. This is a cool and fun feature at Bartlett Wash -- a big cleavage-like depression in the slickrock (hence the feature's alternative nickname, "Dolly Parton") that's unnervingly steep, but rideable. |

The Tale of Riding with Clipless
|
By JenNIfer on 8/30/2006 on JenNIfer's blog I have been riding for a year now (actually riding serious since this summer). I have been using regular flat pedals. I was actually just starting to get the hang of riding technical trails, when my husband (mikem) decided that it was time...time to go clipless!!!! Knowing the spills that he took when he first starting riding with clipless pedal, I was scared (maybe more like terrified)! We finally ordered the shoes and pedals, and waited anxiously for their arrival. They came Friday afternoon, so Saturday morning was set as D-Day. Lucky for me, I wasn't feeling good Saturday, so D-Day was postponed to Sunday. |

By tobytrice on 8/16/2006 on tobytrice's blog I was on my local trail about a week ago and i was learnin to do the bigger jumps there. i started the day by just jumping the smaller table tops. these are great fun when they go well. my 1st run was pretty sketchy but i went back and tried again. this run was terrifing. i jumped the 1st table top and went off balance but managed to keep myself on track for the next 1. in mid air on the second one i said to myself "this is going to hurt." and it did. i went over the handlebars and they twisted with me. one side of them went into my genitals and the other side into the floor, i landed straight on it. i was on the floor for about 10 mins in pain. when i got up and checked everything i had a cut to left testicle and the handle bars were bent. ouch did this hurt |

By tobytrice on 7/27/2006 on tobytrice's blog We were in our local woods and somebody had made a jump we never saw before. It looked really good, in fact a table top. Right next to the landing there was a tree stump which somebody had sharpened like a spear. It looked dead sharp but we decided to have a go. I went first to test the jump out and landed fine. It was brilliant, the air i got. When my friend went he looked nervous but I told him it would be ok. As he took off he looked as if something was wrong. The bike started to table top and he let go of it. He landed straight onto this spike in the ground but luckily it ripped his shirt and scraped the side of his chest. |
