By yourmtb on 9/1/2007 on yourmtb's blog Highlights from YourMTB.com ... August 31, 2007HOT SHOTS: Featured photos from the YourMTB galleryWALKER'S WORLD: What's he saying?Walker's World: where we have to ask, "it is called 'Burning Man' right? So what's the problem?" YourMTB.com enthusiast-in-chief Walker Thompson has been full of it the past couple weeks. And you know what that means? The chainring has been turning! A recent trip down memory lane in which he recalled a friend of a friend who stuffed a piece of pizza in his hydration pack (who else just threw up in their mouth?) spurred Walker to ask, "what's in your hydration pack?" We hope it's liquid. And not formerly solid. If you've got some free time, like, say, a few months, coming up, Walker wants you to know that there's a new trail you can check out. It's called the Continental Divide. You might have heard of it. All the talk about long rides then had Walker contemplating the age old question: "spandex or baggy?" (Warning: images contained in this blog post may cause nightmares.) Walker then gave us his usual weekend riding agenda. Only since this weekend is special and we've got an extra day to play, Walker was able to up the nausea factor in his schedule by a third. If you're road tripping this holiday weekend, be sure to download the soothing tones of Walker -- he went wild on the airwaves this week and posted two podcasts! One's an interview with the inventor of an innovative new sports drink project, and the second is Walker's way of coming clean about his addiction. Find out what's up in the number one blog in history...of YourMTB.com...written by guys named Walker...who live in Durango: As The Chainring Turns.
NOOBS: Who's new?(Psst! Post your profile pictures! We can't include you in Noobs if you don't have one.) STORY OF THE WEEK: A little help from my friendsWe'd like to close this edition of the Weekly Ride with a compelling story from YourMTBer subunit1. The frightening story speaks for itself, but contains a great message (as well as a happy ending - phew!). That message? The buddy system exists for a reason. If you don't currently mix it up on the trail with other people, you don't know what you're missing (hint: a life saver). We urge you to read this story, give subunit1 a shout of recovery encouragement, and start rolling out the riding invites! Best of luck to subunit1 from all of us at YourMTB.com.
