Summer slows down because everyone is ridin'

Spacemonkey said on Looking for some input on a bike... June 27, 2008 - 9:36pm

I could be wrong but it looks more like a cross country then a free ride bike to me.

so Good for street, great for trails and unsure on the jumps. I would look at something with a beefeyer Frame, for jumping. Others please correct me If I'm Wrong, but I'd say for all-mountain or freeriding you'll want a bike with a sturdy frame.

Camp Hill, PA here! Right outside of Harrisburg!

Welcome to the forums! I just joined the other day myself!

This video could be a lot better if it was less pixelee. I'm Curious if that was the uploading or the origenal Quality. I like the chest mounted instead of Helmet mounted view as it seems steadyer.

Thanks for letting us know about this, you don't often see such offers. I should start searching for a valid coupone code, I hope I am not too late for this.

yaa, think of "where" you ride.... XC? All MTN? downhill... then look at places around the web that does reviews... keeping in mind that people tend to complain more about little things than they praise anything.

Also look around for less popular names with good reviews. you'll get more in components for less $$$ This is how I got my K2, after riding a few jamis, Iron horse, Ellsworth... ETC the K2 rode as well as or better than the others with much better parts at a good chunk less $$$$ though I really liked the Jamis :) the K2 was $600 less with better parts.....

also think of things like... Are you planning on doing your own up keep or take to a shop. if your taking to a shop regularly, don't worry to much about type or brands.. if you're doing your own service look for easy to adj components.. ( Sram drive train is much easier to Adj than Shimano, Mech disc or rim brakes are easier to service over Hydo's, bla bla bla.. etc)

kinda reminds me of a poor dog with that cone on their head... like that person can't control scratching himself!!! LOLLOLOL

hmm New Zealand sounds cool... Alps (not that I have the umph to do it) Alaska... any US mtn range that has great views!!!!

Thomllama said on Replacing Outdated Front Derailleur June 15, 2008 - 11:51am

why wont the new ones fit? tube size? I'd look/call around I think you'll find something For some reason I'm getting a thought in my brain that there is a Sram front for older replacements...

Try Cambria Bike outfitters, Blueskycycling, nashbar, Greenfish or jenson dot com's Cambria is probably the most informed depending on the sales person you get.

Glad to see your back blogging your lack of presence was creating a vacume on this site.

I would Love to try Hawaii and Alaska, Along with Mexico.

Not very exotic, but:

1. Colorado - best trail system, but crowded at lower elevations

 2. Wyoming - I have a cabin on the Wyoming/Colorado border; could ride for 2 weeks and not see another person

3. Utah - red rock, the softest sand on the planet - need I say more?

Still working on number 4 and 5

Highly suggest talking to the guys at your LBS. Jamis has the Dakar series many of which are in that price range, I enjoy mine.

Rocky mountain has some bike in that range I think most companies will have FS in that range really. So try out what looks good to you, and buy what rides the way you want. Full suspension has so many sub Catagories now it's not even funny.

Do you want an All mountain bike or a trail bike or A dirt jump or A freestyle bike or a ...The list goes on.

Look at the bikes in person and see what turns your bottom Bracket o yea that would be your cranks.

Peace

Lisa I Don't know particuler trails but if you check out "Drop in" on Rip TV(Riptv.net) You should be able to find the Season they road New Zealand. Wicked stuff!  They Should say where in New Zealand they were riding and that could tip you in the right direction.

I would Also suggest phoning up tour guides and just asking them in a fraindly way where the great rides are.

Spacemonkey said on More Hawaiian Islands... May 23, 2008 - 3:58am

what happened to you in Hawaii? Did you fall in? you brought life to this site and our missed!

On my bike the "cockpit" is a helmit for a roof Amber sunglasses for a windshield, and a durable water proof jacket. I also have a rain cover for my bag.

o yea and good gloves help.

Though there have been days when I have ridden home in weather where I was so soaked that I might as well have ridden ina nd out of a swimming pool in scuba gear.

but that's part off the fun
