Western Australia’s world-famous South West corner will play host to the inaugural Cape to Cape MTB from October 22-25, 2008.  This iconic mountain bike event will see some of the world’s leading riders head to our shores, along with a strong local and interstate contingent of mountain bike professionals and enthusiasts alike.  Defined by Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at the southern point and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to the north, the four-day Cape to Cape MTB will have entrants negotiate a challenging network of roads, bush and forest trails, beach and dune tracks and old railway lines as they make their way up this stunning coastline. From the starting point in Augusta, the course winds through an incredibly diverse landscape including internationally-renowned surf beaches, premium vineyards, rocky outcrops, private farmlands and national forests, and through a variety of towns including Hamelin Bay, Margaret River, Cowaramup and Yallingup.

Established as a fully-supported event, the Cape to Cape MTB will set up nightly Basecamps, providing entertainment and all meals to both competitors and support staff, as well as a selection of the South West’s best food and drink for all to experience.  For those wishing to see even more of what the region has to offer, a wonderful selection of additional tourist activities will be offered each day.

As a tourist-based event, marketing itself on the amazing natural attractions of WA’s South West, a key priority of the event is integrating tourism and recreation with conservation goals.  In order to minimise any impact on the environment, organisers are proud to be working together with Leave No Trace Australia to ensure no negative footprint results from this event.  REGISTER NOW by visiting the official website, www.capetocapemtb.com.
