![]() By smog on 5/31/2007 Hi, I'm Neil or nickname Smog. I moved here a year and a half ago from England. I used to ride as often as I could back home regardless of the weather and went by the mountin bike code over there of "Just get out and ride". I aim to do the same over here though the heat is a bit more of a problem than rain is back home. Love to ride and owned about 3 bikes before I moved. Had to sell all of them to pay to come over here and the immigration process isn't cheap either. Used to own a Whyte PRST-1, Marin B17 full sus and a GT Arrowhead. I did own a hardrock pro disc for a few weeks before it was stolen in broad daylight infront of about 10 people at a gas station. So if anyone is in the Oviedo area of Orlando let me know of any rides that are going on or of any trails as I haven't ridden since I left England and just want to get out. Cheers Nei(Smog) |

Hey Neil, You're not too far from me, just the other side of our sprawling town. I've been poking around a few message boards, and it looks like I'm going to try a trail out in Lakeland on Wednesday evening with a group down there called the Ridge Riders. It's a bit of a drive though, especially from your end of town. Other than that, and very close to your location, I'm hitting up the 90 minute spinning class at UCF tomorrow afternoon. :-) "The score never interested me, only the game." --Mae West |

Sounds good. Just found out I'm not getting my bike until next Tuesday now so I won't be out riding anytime soon. Unfortunatly I work in Altamonte and on a wednesday I finish my day job and help out at my wife's Uncles gym in Winter Springsd until 9pm so I won't be doing much riding then either. Oh well I'll live. Just be glad I got the bike ordered. |

I'll check them out if I can find them. I was supposed to get my bike Yesterday. In fact I was told before that it would take a week to arrive when I ordered it the Friday before memorial day. I understood that it may be a little longer because of the bank holiday so I gave it a while and called. Then I was told that it hadn't been ordered until the Tuesday we came back so it wouldn't be in until the next Tuesday (Yesterday) so I called then and they said that because of the bank holiday it hadn't arrived so the earliest I could expect to see it was going to be this Friday. It's a good job I sold my car and decided to get a bike to save money, get fit and get out and about cos I am having so much fun begging for lifts to and from work at the minute. It wouldn't have been a problem if the bike had arrived last week as I had last week off work so I had no car and no bike so I had no need to get anywhere but I was also expecting it to be here this Tuesday so I would only need a lift to work Monday and Tuesday and a lift home on Monday but I was getting a taxi to the bike shop to ride my pride and joy home. Now it's not there I need to find a lift to and from work for the rest of the week and if the bike isn't in on Friday then I'm going to have to do the same next week until the bike does come in. I wish when I had ordered the bike that they would have said it's going to take about 2 weeks for us to get it in and with the bank holiday it maybe a little longer. They didn't and now I was expecting my bike this week and I might not get it until next week so the rides I had planned to go on last weekend were cancelled but I was half expecting that to happen because of the holiday but now I was expecting it to be here yesterday and I don't even know if it's going to be here this week means I can't plan on going on any rides this weekend either becuase I don't know if the bike will be here or not. Frustrated is not the word for it at the minute. Don't get me wrong I don't think it's the guys in the bike shop dragging their feet or anything but I would have prefered to have been given a better ETA for the bike so I could have organised transport before hand and I had told them that this was going to be my main source of transport and it would be a problem if it wasn't here when they said it would be. Sorry for that rant but I just had to get it out of my system as I am really angry that I ordered a bike and haven't got it nearly 2 weeks later. |

Did you get your bike yet? I wrecked on the trail in Lithia yesterday, and I think I'm going to check out the one in Lakeland this coming Sunday. Check out the board on RidgeRiders.net! "The score never interested me, only the game." --Mae West |

Yeah I got the bike. I tried riding a trail a few weeks ago now but I didn't manage to do anything major. I don't have a camel back at the minute so I suffered with only having a single water bottle to drink from for the ride. That was gone within a matter of minutes and I was worried I wouldn't make it back to the car if I carried on with the group so I went back with what I had after being given a power bar gel pack. That knocked me for 6 as I wasn't expecting the head rush and the dizzyness followed by the stomach ache etc. It was horrible but after downing someone elses water bottle and what was left in mine I felt much better. I'm going to try and get out on the bike this weekend but not sure when or where yet. I'll get in touch if I decide to go on a trail or just pound some road for the day. |

Smog, Are you still looking for a PRST-1? I have one and I wouldn't mind parting with it. I have switched to road due to an injury. My Whyte is XT, is stock and is in good mountain bike condition. Ken |
