But what happens if there is a rock in the way. You can't back pedal. What do you do? I mean what about narrow rock gaps? I'm so impressed...

You go with the flow. You use body english. You hone your skills. You adapt. You pedal in the air when you jump.

It's not for everyone and it's not always easy, but neither is single speeding with a freewheel.
