Since most of the folks answering this question here are mountain bikers, most of us will probably say yes. It's a qualified yes for me. I think there should be some rules to prevent aggressive riding and demand that MTBers when they use wilderness trails exhibit respect for the land and leave no trace. Maybe for a biker to have the privilege of riding a trail in a wilderness area, a permit and training should be necessary.

This is an old argument, but still a good one that applies: If horses and canoes are allowed to pass through some wilderness areas, then limited bike use should be allowed for those trails, too. Horses do more trail damage than bikes. If land managers are going to allow anything more than foot travel on a wilderness trail, then it's only fair that responsible mountain bikers be allowed to ride it as well.
