By Wugga on 8/24/2007 Ok, I'm a cross-country guy, so I don't know a whole lot about DH technology, but I'm pretty sure that both dual crown and triple crown forks exist. However, I was recently talking to a guy (he rides DH, but is pretty casual... I''m not really too convinced he knows what he is talking about) and he was convinced that there is no such thing as dual crown forks. According to him, it went straight from "normal", single crown, cross-country-style forks to triple crown. Is he right? |

Difference between Dual/Triple Crown forks? |
MikeG says:
Correct me others, but the crowns are referring to the posts that make up the connection to the frame, and the stanchions if they go further up to the same level as the top tube. So one of the crowns is the one that is also called your top tube, and the other two are the stanchions (the stationary parts of your shocks). So yea I don't think there could be a double crown fork. Perhaps Cannondale might dream up one, along with the lefty (which might be viewed as a double crown) and the headshock, but not yet. Regardles, it would certainly be unusual if it did exist.
