Giant Anthem Advanced versus Gary Fisher Procaliber

Please help me decide whether or not I should sell my 2007 Giant Anthem Advanced (raced one season) and buy a 2008 Gary Fisher Procaliber. From my sponsoring bike shop I bought the Giant and will buy my GF at pro deal prices. I estimate that I'll have to pay about $800 more (taxes included) for the new GF vs what I can sell the Giant for. Here are some of the differences: The 2007 Giant Anthem Advanced is a top of the line full carbon bike (frame, bar, stem, seat post) with a Fox FX80 front fork, Fox Float RP23 rear shock, Mavic CrossMax SL-R wheelset, full XTR component set, XTR disk brakes; the 2008 Gary Fisher Procaliber uses the HiFi model geometry, aluminum frame with carbon seat stays, carbon handlebars and seat post, Fox F100 RLC front fork, Fox Flot RP23 rear shock, Bontrager Race X Lite wheelset, XTR front derailleur and crank, SRAM x.0 shifters/cassette/read derailleur, avid jucy ultimate disc brakes. Here's the links to both bike specs...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Greg,

Wow. That's a big question. Just by Fork alone, I'd go with the GF. Also, I like what SRAM has done with X.0 and Juicy (SRAM bought Avid). I have a few friends that race on GF and since Trek bought them, I've heard nothing but great things.

Giant makes a sweet ride too. I just haven't seen to many Anthem's around Durango.

Check out with this blog says about the GF: http://lwarner.blogspot.com/2008/01/choices-choices.html.

Hi Walker,
Thanks for your quick reply and the blog which I read. According to the blog the procaliber is about 23.5lbs which is about what the anthem weighs. Why do you like the F100RLC over the FX80? What are your opinions on the anthem's Crossmax SL-R wheelset vs procaliber's Bontrager Race X Lite wheelset? The Anthem has been great doing xc 25km to 8/24hr solo races. First ride on the Anthem was a 24hr solo which I won with 290km. This July 1-8 I'll be doing the Trans Portugal 8 day 1000km mtb race. At 54 I'll be the oldest person who has finished this race (thinking positive).
