![]() By AmberLewis on 3/29/2007 I know I CAN loosen my clipless pedals, but I'm not sure how. Is there anyone out there kind enough to explain the process to me. I'm sure it's simple enough. I tried the two hex screws (one on each side of the pedal) and they click but it doesn't really feel like it makes it any easier to get out of them. Thanks! |

How to loosen my pedals |

You will want to turn the screws several times. I think there might even be a stopping point. Turn towards the -, not the +, as far as you can, to loosen. MikeG Either riding or Thinking of Riding... The madness of MTB, I love it! |

I didn't see any - or + sign near the screws. I'll take another look though. I remember seeing the word loosen and an arrow on the plastic part of the pedal. It looked like that was the connection point between the pedal and the actual metal pedal arm. I tried playing with that and I fear I almost messed it up because there was some sort of rubber o-ring that slipped out and my wrench dug at the plastic teeth. Is that perhaps the area I need to loosen? Turning that spot also turns the clip in the middle of the pedal. |

Sorry I just assumed, since both my sets of pedals has the + and -. Counter-clock wise on mine to loosen. You may be able to see the screw do it's thing when you turn it. It should be releasing tension on the spring. MikeG Either riding or Thinking of Riding... The madness of MTB, I love it! |

Thanks, I'll look at it again and give it a shot. Maybe I didn't do it right. I loosened the two hex screws until they came out then I retightened them enough so they would stay in. I pressed on it by hand and it didn't appear that it would be any easier to get out of. I'll try it with my shoes on. Thanks again! |

Don't be afraid to over loosen them! The screws will not fall out, it takes many turns on some pedals to make any differance. Just ride the drop..stop bieng a wussy! |
