How would you discipline a non-bike commuter?

<em>walker</em>'s picture
By walker on 9/13/2006

1. Whipped with a rubber hose?
2. No dessert for a week?
3. Mandatory grass-growing observation?
4. Marshmallow stuffing?
5. Grammar review of George Bush's speeches?

Whatever the punishment, I deserve it. I'm totally guilty.

For the past few weeks, I've been driving the 1.5 miles to work. Yes, 1.5 miles. It is shameful! I don't know what happened. One day I needed to pick up some groceries after work. I took my car. And since then, I've been stuck driving to work. I can't seem to break the habit. It is so nice to enjoy a warm cup of coffee during my 6.5 minute commute. MY GOD ARE YOU READING THIS NONSENSE!!!

I call myself an advocate for the environment and mountain biking, now look at me. A poor excuse of a man who only rides the big rides, not the 1.5 mile rides to WORK!

Help me discipline myself! This is a call for help...

What should I do to get back into the commuting swing of things?

How about if you agree to confess -- publicly, on your blog -- each time you drive to work? The public humiliation surely will cure you fast. 8^)

Before I ever met you I passed you and your fiance as you were riding on the road from Woodland Park to the Rampart Range Trail. I was in my motorized vehicle like most people that go there and all I could think was what dedicated riders you two were. Now I know the truth, there was 1 dedicated rider...shame, shame, shame...Walker.

You should think of the joy biking gives you to get you out of the car. And also, you should think of the environment and what a disservice your causing it when you drive

Just think how your car must feel. It doesn't even get a chance to warm up. Think of your car!

Your punnishment should be carrot and stick.

The stick part should come first Ride your bike in down town rush hour traffic for 13 minutes twice the amount of your commute. make sure to breath deep of the smog and enjoy the honking horns.

Then ride 15 minites on a nicetrail where there is no cars. and listen to wind and birds.

Somepeople say Bikes don't belong on the road, I'm now saying cars Don't belong on the road.

Ride with Peace

I was stuck in traffic near Dallas Fort Worth airport one day, and while I was waiting for traffic to move a lone cyclist rode like he didn't have a care in the world. The traffic was very congested (constipated) in all directions.
If society keeps going the way it is going, it is doomed. So when the end is hear, I am taking my mountain bike, and my daughters, and going to the top of the mountain to watch.
Bush is responsible for all the cr*p in the world, today.
