Hutchinson tires

By malawele on 12/5/2007

Anyone using the Bulldog, Pirannah, Python, or Barracudas?

I'm probably going to put a Barracuda/Pirannah UST combo on my FR bike,
and was thinking of using the larger Pirannah, Python, or even Bulldog
in some combination on the rigid trailbike. Wanted something in the
faster-rolling-but-fat category, with handling being more important to
me than ultimate speed. Still, I'm tired of lugging big-ass, slow tires
around all the time.

Thanks

I found the Pythons to be good, big volume tires for racing on a hardtail. Note, they can wash out cornering in the really loose or super-dusty stuff. An odd thing I noticed was that they actually seemed slower on asphault than on a smooth trail. Perhaps they're 'grippy'? But get them on the dirt and they roll quite fast.
