![]() Hi there: My name is Ryan Dunford and I am moving to Edmonton from Ottawa later this winter. I am looking for a bit of advice on where I should consider buying a house so that I have easy access to some sweet single track! I am an active mountain biker out here in Ottawa. I have been a member of the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association www.ottawamba.org (IMBA affiliated association) since its inception three years ago. I have riden the 24hrs of Summer Solstice race in Ontario a couple of times now and hope to travel back out to Ontario this coming summer to race in it again (in the solo category again - I need my head examined). Anyway, I have been very lucky to live extremely close to some great single track out here in Ottawa and hope to live in a location in Edmonton that will allow me to roll out of my garage and into trails. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ryan |

I live nearby Mill Creek Ravine in Edmonton, and would recommend that area for anyone interested in mountain biking. The ravine itself has a variety of paved trail, gravel path and single track trails, and provides easy access to the entire river valley trail system. Our house is one block from the southern end of the ravine, and it's great to have so many recreation opportunities just waiting outside our front door. Some neighborhoods in the area are: Richie, Hazeldean, Bonnie Doon, Avonmore, Argyll. Another place to consider for good mountain biking is the area around Terwillegar Park, although it is not as well connected to the rest of the river valley trail system (yet). Nice to hear from you Ryan, I have to aggree with anonymous above, both those would be great places, A few other options to look into would be the area north of Whyte ave there are trails leading from there strait down into the river valley and into the area of Kinsman park. this option also leaves you near lots of great Indipendent local bike shops. Also if you looking for something less pricey The cromdale naighborhhod borders the Kinnaird ravine, A nice gravel Doubletrack that leads down into the river valley and connects up with some great Singletrack. Hope that Helps |

Thank you very much! My wife and I bought a home in Terwillager Towne. I am looking forward to exploring the trails in that area. I hope to meet you both and others out on the trails in the Spring - just look for a guy on a Blue Devinci who looks like he is lost. Cheers, Ryan |

If your interested in Trail Building, and Mtn Bike Community activism and Advacacy, EMBA is all about that and you could also meet fellow Enthiusts prior to random spring trail meetups. |

There are a ton of trails around Terwilliger - you should have no shortage of riding ST in that area and around the river valley. |

Indeed, I am very interested in trail building, community activism and advocacy. Is the April 14 meeting still on? If it is I will be sure to come down and participate. Thank you Gord962 for the trail info. I am looking forward to rolling out there very soon. |
