So I'm thinking about an ML8 or a Durance. This will be my first full suspension bike. My riding has been getting more and more aggressive over the last few years. I am looking at at least 6 inches of travel. I love climbing and hate shuttling. I love bombing down hill and jumping, steep technical trails and hauling ass. I have been trying to ride everything; single pivots, multi pivots and horst links. I am looking at Intense 6.6 (though the Socom FRO is so SICK!) Foes FXR, Turner RFX and Ventana El Terramoto but the one that I really dig is the Ellsworth Moment.
The Maverick is the best climber in my opinion. Coming from a single speed, that is very important to me. I just read a horrible review in the June '07 issue of (Rodale's) Mountain Bike. They're saying (the Matic)is a better descender. The other thing is I am pretty small and the Mav seems a bit big (though I have yet to ride a small.)
There is no way I would get a Mav without the DUC, Speedball, and 24/7. Whatever I get I may stick a DUC fork in it.
What 'choo all think? I think the Mav is the by far the best pedaling design. Is this thing going to eat the trail when I point it downward? Am I going to regret getting it? It looks like the perfect tool. Is it, or what? I appreciate any and all imput. Thanks.

I've test ridden almost all the 'All Mountain' bikes on the market and the Maverick leaves the rest standing in the way it climbs and the way it descends. I ride it in Endurance races, used it on all dayers and even done the Heli drop in Whistler on it.

Theres NO other bike out there that compares to a Maverick in my opinion.

PS. I also ride SS when not on the mav :-)

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted and expected to hear. Are you riding a Durance, ML8 or..?

I got a Durance, and it absolutely rips it going downhill. The ML8 has slacker angles, so it descends even better, but both are far stiffer front and rear, and have better sus movement that the moment or the others. either one will beat out the bikes you listed, both UP and DOWN. Get the ML8 if you want to rip the downhills a bit faster at the expense of 1.5 pounds of extra weight. It's better for shuttling the parks too. for an endurance/all mountain bike I went durance, as I have a downhill bike already.

I too am interested in a Maverick, either the Matic or ML8. Both seem to have similar geometry but the ML8 seems a bit 'stronger' built.

Any comments on the XC / fast single track abilities of each; compared to each other and the the IBIS Mojo??

Cheers

I did have an ML7.5 but just last week changed it for The Durance.

Hi, I am thinking about getting either a used ml7.5 or a durance and I was wondering what your opinion on the differences are. I know the ml7.5 has a longer top tube, does this make it a better climber but maybe not as good on the downhills? I would appreciate any advice you have.
Thanks, Robert Reed
