Trying to get the most out of Northern Nevada!

Hi all!

My name is Brent. I'm 26. I moved to Northern Nevada (Carson City) just over a year ago from Phoenix with my fiance and her daughter. I am originally from backwoods NW Pennsylvania.

I moved here in the thoughts that I was tried of living in the city (Phoenix) after 7 years and wanted to get back to a more "small-town" feel of life. Carson City has had it's share of pros and cons with me. Mostly cons I unfortunately say, but things happen for a reason I believe and is partially why I am HERE (at 'yourmtb.com').

I had gotten a breif taste of mountain biking while living in Phoenix. I had a roommate in 2003 who was into it; well, he had a lot of extra cash that allowed him to at least look like he was into a lot of things. He had purchased some fancy mountain bike which he constantly bragged was a $2300 model. Whatever. Really nice bike though. He let me ride it after I wrecked my cheap crap bike and broke the frame. I really dug it, but never could really afford the lifestyle I guess to purchase all new everythings.

Now, living in Northern Nevada I am getting down partially because I can never leave Carson City. Like I said, I'm 26 and am not into gambling or drinking at bars that are either full of old drunks, or full of young testosterone filled meth freaks. To put it all lightly... SO I haven't found much of a release. I know that living so close to great outdoor activities is a plus and I'm going crazy because I have not been able to enjoy any of it yet really.  I did briefly work at Mt. Rose ski resort over the winter as a snowboard instructor, which was really fun, but making the trip to the mountain through storms for business was not happening. A couple couple days of riding was worth it though. It had been three years since we'd gotten any snow in AZ, so I was a little rusty at the beginning of the season to say the least.

Over the last few weeks I have been torturing myself by looking at and reading reviews on a ton of seemingly really nice camp grounds near this area. It's killing me. Today I found an ad for a bike that is selling realitively cheap, and after looking at reviews on the specific bike, I am getting really pumped and would love to be able to see the sights and have some good rides. I should know in about a week if the bike will be available and if I can actually afford it. If all goes as planned, I will be cruisin soon enough.

If anyone lives in the area and wouldn't possibly mind a beginner riding partner to show around, hit me up!

Until then y'all... enjoy the sights!

-Brent
