Woohoo! I'm number 1!

By miles on 1/18/2008

A friend sent me a link to the crash video page, and what do I see?  My cliff-diving session is #1 on the chart!

Yes, it was definitely a Wiley E Coyote moment, no doubt.  For the video of the rest of the ride, look here:

And for the rest of the story about my crash, check here:

Happy trails, all, and remember:  don't fall off cliffs.  It sucks.

Off the road, on the mind...

As a postscript to all that, six weeks later we (that's me and the two other guys in the video) and another friend raced the 24 Hours In The Old Pueblo and came in 8th. Two weeks after that I went and rode Gooseberry and the JEM trail. The cliff-side riding didn't bother me one bit.

Nice video!

Which one? The crash, or the rest of the ride?

Hey Miles -

I wrote that Crash feature, and I just wanted to say it's good to see you're still alive. That fall looked awful (obviously, hence the #1 ranking).

Holy crap Miles! You're "that guy". That was a legendary crash. Glad to see you're okay though! I don't think anyone can top that one and live to talk about it, let alone ride the next week. Good for you.

You're a trooper.

That fall was awful, no doubt. I'm as glad as anybody (maybe more so) that I am still around, let me tell you.

Man, yesterday I was watching your video when my [national bolt/faster supply company rep named Dustin] came in to my office. We watched your video, cringing and squinting and couldn't figure out if you lived through that. I only had a work a few hours today (Friday), so when I got home, I saw that you did in fact live. I called Dustin to let him know that he could now enjoy his weekend, knowing that he didn't watch some poor dude lose his life on a cliff.

I'm glad you're ok, man! That was quite a drop!
