![]() By walker on 4/24/2006 What do you do? Do you send money to trail organizations? Do you volunteer to clean up the trails or build them? What is your level of involvement with trails. Are you just a rider? How deep do you go to support new and existing trail conservation? Are you scared to get involved? Does your company tear up the land? Why aren't you involved? What would you do to protect your trails from development? Is mountain biking really that important to you? Would you stand in front of a bulldozer to stop it from tearing up your favorite trail? Do you write you editor about how important trails are to you? HOW ARE YOU INVOLVED? |

You have to get involved |

I just joined the Jefferson County Open Space bike patrol. Stay tuned for interesting stories! I start patrolling in June. I also send money to IMBA and the Trail Conservation Service Mountain Bike Coalition via annual membership fees. I used to host some committee meetings at my house, but I backed off on that and I am focusing more on the bike patrol. I also attend trail maintenance days when I can. The last one I went too had group rides (even an epic ride option), free camping, beer and food. Wow! Why wouldn't you? Why did I become involved? A big reason I moved to Golden, Colorado was the great access to trails around here. There are very few "no bikes allowed" signs. I can ride to about 5 decent trails from my house. My goal is to keep it that way. My favorite trail is in Washington near Mt. Saint Helens (The Fall's Creek trail). Yes, I would jump in front of 1,000 bulldozers if it would stop anyone from tearing it up. |
