pardon the lack o' focus, fast downhill leads to shaky hands and endorphin rush. :)

Tojo de Matic's first ride

By Waapiti on 1/29/2008

Tojo: before & after first ride

The rain stopped for a few hours yesterday and I did my
best to hang on as my new Matic tackled Mt. Tam's east peak. Tojo ate up the
nasty route I laid down on the climb up and soared through stream after
stream on the way down!

I think this is a beginning of a good relationship!

I
need to make a few adjustments to the shifting and rebound and put on
some moto-style handlebars to push my body angle up a bit, but holy
smokes, Tojo is a rocket!

Maverick Member of the Month - June

By Contests on 7/5/2007 in contests

Another month gone; another month of sweet postings by the YourMTB.com community. And you know what that means - it was time once again to review the month that was, and see if the Maverick Member of the Month Selection Task Force could logically decide which member threw up the most amazing stuff.

Well, since we all know that logic has no place at Member of the Month Selection Task Force Very Important Summit meetings, eventually they decided on a new system of Site Posting Excellence Determination - a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. Kidding! It did take them a bit of extra time, but The Task Force eventually decided on a winner. Although they could only choose one, they wanted everyone to rest assured that you are still indeed special. (Warm fuzzies!) And now...on to the winner!

All month long, YourMTB.com has been the posting ground for great visual pieces and written installments by grillod85. Check out the photos and videos he's shared in recent weeks. He also served as an outstanding correspondent for the Cowbell Challenge in North Carolina.

For sharing his MTB life grillod85 will receive a Maverick Speedball R.

Continue posting awesome content to YourMTB.com, and after next month's YourMTB Very Important Summit Rock Paper Scissors tournament YOU could end up with a Maverick Speedball!

A British Maverick half-breed!

This is my Whyte 46 - a British designed bike that uses the Maverick DUC32 fork. I love it to bits and it will have to suffice until I have enough money for an ML8!

Maverick Member of the Month - May

By Contests on 6/7/2007 in contests

Now that himself06's reign is over, the kingdom of YourMTB was left without a new leader, a new monarch, a new chief, skipper, honcho, sachem and hefe - a new Maverick Member of the Month!

Well, put downeth your torches and pitchforks, fair villagers - the anarchy at YourMTB.com hath doth ended! It has taken the all-knowing Selection Task Force some time, but they took great pains ("many naps") in order to select a fair and just new ruler of the land...(cue trumpets)...we give you...Lumpy!

His peerless ocular virtuosity reigns supreme over the spectrum of our great acreage-okay, enough of that talk. The dude can take some pictures and videos! If you've been even a casual browser of the site last month, you've no doubt seen some of his stuff - check it all out here.

For sharing his MTB life and exemplifying what this site is all about, Lumpy will receive a Maverick Speedball R.

Make your case for overthrowing the current monarchy, and next month we could be outfitting YOU with a Maverick Speedball!

June 3 - Wapiti-Baptiste still under lots of Snow

It rained.... it hailed.... we post holed through the snow.... over 50% of the Wapiti downhill is under deep drifts.

We had an excellent time. But I will wait at least two weeks before going again.

Thinking about my new bike...

<em>ferretwiggle</em>'s picture
By ferretwiggle on 5/30/2007
Groups: Maverick

So I'm thinking about an ML8 or a Durance. This will be my first full suspension bike. My riding has been getting more and more aggressive over the last few years. I am looking at at least 6 inches of travel. I love climbing and hate shuttling. I love bombing down hill and jumping, steep technical trails and hauling ass. I have been trying to ride everything; single pivots, multi pivots and horst links. I am looking at Intense 6.6 (though the Socom FRO is so SICK!) Foes FXR, Turner RFX and Ventana El Terramoto but the one that I really dig is the Ellsworth Moment.
