By Steve Outing on 10/23/2007 ![]() I grabbed this photo from the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance. Wanted to share it because it's historic for historically MTB-unfriendly Boulder. That's BMA president Mike Barrow ripping up a "No Bikes" sign that was at the trailhead for Dowdy Draw/Flatirons Vista. A group of volunteers did a trail work day recently, and after they were done the trail was open to mountain bikes. This is a big deal for Boulder, because it is the first time that a new trail west of Colo. 93 near Boulder has been opened to bikes in 25 years. Things are looking up, and there are some more open-to-bike trails coming in this area of Boulder Open Space. We mountain bikers in Boulder are hoping that the many years of Boulder MTB discrimination are coming to an end. It won't happen overnight, but things are looking up. Mike and the BMA are due kudos for driving to make this happen. |
