By arinewman on 9/27/2006 this shot was taken during an epic late-season ride up in Vail, CO. started in Vail Village, rode up the fireroads to the top of the mountain, rode grand traverse trail over to cougar ridge and down into Minturn...then back into Vail on the bike path. Highly recommended. |

That's such a great area and your photo did an awesome job capturing the feeling! I've always wanted to ride fromt he village out to east of two elk's and over to the bowman's shortcut up to the shrine pass road and down to Minturn. Your Loop sounds better, but man would I be tired. |

wow great picture i have only snowboarded in vail's back bowls (alot). i have two questions for you do they youse snowmobiles or atvs for there services? and is blue sky basin open? |
arinewman says:
As far as I know snowmobiles are only used by the on-mountain patrol staff on the mountain in the winter. Not sure about ATVs in the summer, but my guess is that they are not allowed due to the land permit restrictions and the fact that I've never seen ATVs or dirtbikes up there in the summer in any of the areas we MTB in. BSB is open in the winter and is awesome when there is fresh snow. It's a hike to get out there, but can be worth it. |
