By tmg820 on 5/1/2008 The Dirt Series by Rocky Mountain Bicycles is a traveling instruction program teaching mountain biking skills. This year, their 8th season, they began their camp in North Vancouver on April 19-20. The program this year has 19 women's-only and co-ed camps in Sun Valley, Southern California, Park City, North Vancouver and Whistler, BC. Each camp is two days long and offers skill sessions in small groups, instructional rides to practice new techniques and opportunities to try out equipment from industry sponsors. It originally started in 2001 with the idea of getting more women involved in the sport. Since then, there have been over 4,000 participants ranging in age from 17 to 70. "Our camps are all about helping people take those first steps in technical mountain biking, or moving them up from one step to the next,” said Candace Shadley, program founder. “We offer an environment in which people can tailor their camp to their particular interests, learn at their own pace and have a great time in the process."
