Interbike 2006 -- I made it in

I was in Vegas this week for a business conference that just happened to be right next to Interbike. All day long I saw bikers walking to and fro the Sands Expo decked out in either riding gear or loaded with Interbike schwag. Jealous.

A series of awesome events led to a sneak peak of the showroom floor on Tuesday night, and then on Friday I was able to get in on a media pass. Tim Grahl from the Crooked Cog Network set the wheels turning that got me in to the show. Tim is one cool dude.

What a sweet place Interbike is. I hardly knew what to do with myself. Powered up on energy drink and Power Bar samples I hit every outfit I could, snapping pictures and soaking in the gear.

Celebrity Spottings – I talked to Marla Streb in an elevator, got a picture with Bob Roll, saw Tom Ritchey at the Ritchey booth, got a picture with Mike Ward, author of Mike and the Bike, and met some of the coolest mountain bikers around. Interbike was always a Mecca I had never drunk the waters from. One sip and now I’m hooked. 2007 can’t come fast enough.
