Relocation over Vacation.

By subunit1 on 9/1/2006 on subunit1's blog

My story is not really of a vacation but of a lack of 'vacation'. The time I wanted to use this summer for vacation biking was replaced by a relocating to Edmonton, AB. My wife and I decided to leave the beautiful location of Nanaimo, BC on Vancouver Island and move back to Alberta. My wife left first as she got a job which wanted her to start prior to us actually moving there. This left me to pack up the lion's share of a two bedroom condo, one storage unit, three cats and all our gear in approximatley 3 weeks time. I was able to 'sqeeze' in a couple of rides prior to departing, with my buddies but this is no vacation when you have relocation on the brain. Some video of those rides I have posted here on yourmtb.com - Search for "Mt.Washington". That being said the rest of my time was spent in a U-Haul with three cats in the cab towing my car behind it. And everytime I took a turn on the hi-way I could see my bikes mounted on my car just dying to stop and get dirty. As I drove to Edmonton there were many places I would have loved to have stopped to ride but alas there was no time left for me to have a vacation. ~A sad but true story from the Great White North~

That is a sad story! But, I'm sure you'll take the drive back and hit those rides you missed. By the way, what did you miss?

What have I missed, oooohhh sure make me relive the agony- well the boys made another trip to Mt. Washington, a trip to Comox to ride Nymph Falls and they have gone over to the Mainland to ride some trails on the North Shore and Whistler. Faaaaaa......
Oh well as you say - I will be back.
