I've got an audio report from my Vegas trip last week -- not just to the massive Interbike trade show, but also to some of the fantastic mountain biking trails in the area. Las Vegas is "Sin City"? Not from my perspective.

GO TO BOOTLEG CANYON IF YOU ARE IN LAS VEGAS!!!

There, I said it...

Bootleg Canyon is one of the most amazing places to ride. Let's go down a bulleted list of why:

• Lots of terrain
• Bootleg Canyon has something for everyone. The terrain is as varied as the slot machines in Las Vegas. One could ride all the way up to the top of the canyon or simply stay near the parking lot.
• Lots of variety
• Lung-busting climbs
• Tight, twisty, technical XC downhills
• 20 foot gap jumps
• Phat kickers
• Loooooong rolling desert singletrack
• Lots of options
• I don't think there is any ONE course that the locals I talked to claimed as the classic. Thus, one can ride just about anything and make it good.

For those of you who haven't been to Hoover dam, get ready to get searched! I got pulled over on my way to Las Vegas at the Hoover Dam check point site.

The officer, a nice man, by the name of Jose, asked me to pull my truck over to be searched. Another officer asked me for my license, registration, etc. This new officer asked me if I had been searched before. "All the time," I said to him. He asked me to get out of the car and to open all my doors and compartments.

Now, here is the funny part.

If you spring clean, then you know the feeling of finding that one thing you've been looking for. As the officer went through my car, asking me about this and that, I told him to stop. He looked at me for a second debating whether or not I was being confrontational. I picked up on this and said, "No, I mean, please continue searching my car. I really like it when my car is searched. It's just that I've been looking for my hacky sack and you just found it." He looked at me, looked at the hacky sack and said I was good to go. Phew...
