Slippery bridge and a waterlogged bike

Once while riding in the early morning, I had quite an adventure.

We have a series of peninsulas as part of a reservoir in our area that are connected with bridges. The bridges are wooden, 2 feet wide with 2x4 borders, and range from 20 to 40 feet long.

This area is where we usually go, but one day a part of the bridge had sunken, so that a small portion of the middle section was at about 45 degrees instead of flat, and a section of the 2x4 border was missing. It had also rained the day before.

I was coming at it fast and figured that I shouldn't lock up the brakes, but rather ride over to the high side, to avoid collapse. Well...
