By Yann aka Quasimoto on 5/7/2007 on Yann aka Quasimoto's blog Ride Report!! We camped there...but didn't ride much there.. :) Steve, Doug & Gary rode the Edge Loop the first day (Thursday). I hear it was tough 30 little miles. Friday: Tabeguache Trail System (Grand Junction, Colorado)... this is the BEST riding area we've experienced in a long time!! a mecca !!! with "Holy Cross Trail" being the totaLLLY aWesome.... super techy, twisty...everything... Saturday: Rain Rain Rain... after waiting an hour at the parking lot of Rabbit Valley (west of Fruita) waiting in the car (playing cards)... we took off for Moab... :) and rode Hidden Canyon and Bartlett via the Half Pipe |
The Edge Loop - 2007

By walker on 5/5/2007 on walker's blog "The Fruita Guide book" contains directions to one of Fruita, Colorado's most dramatic epic rides. The Edge Loop is portage descents, big climbs (4,000 feet), strange oil rigs and just plain tough. It is also one of my yearly "to do's". Riding an IMBA epic, like the Edge Loop, means making the most of riding hard; whatever the conditions. An epic COULD be bad weather, early season trail conditions and strange oil rigs. Recently, during an annual trip to Fruita, Colorado, Pumpkin Pants and I had our eyes set on the Edge Loop. We wanted an epic ride to fill our day of trail access. |
Playing nice never tasted so good...

By walker on 4/25/2007 on walker's blog Do you have a friend that brings an enormous amount of food on rides? Is it strange to see someone pull out a slice of pizza wrapped in foil? Are you typically the rider with a few tic tacs and half a bottle of water? Quite frankly, do you have an eating/riding problem? Here's where I'm going with these questions: I'm a "starver" and I've learned from my ways. I've learned that I can't bring half a gummy bear on a 35-mile epic. In the past, I've been a real fan of eating VERY light. In other words, I would pack food, but never eat it. Then, I would see my riding buddies take out countless amounts of calories with gooey goodness wrapped up in foil and CONSUME. My lanky, sad face is one of the last things they saw after finishing a snickers bar. In other words, I would "want." Well last weekend, this all bit me (sorry for the pun) in the butt. |
