Wives' worst nightmare

Wives' worst nightmare

As if our wives don't already suspect we're taking stupid risks when on a guys-only mountain biking trip, here's proof. Jeff is helped while "dangling" above a 1,000-foot cliff on the first overlook into Castle Valley on Moab's classic Porcupine Rim trail.

Dog is his co-pilot

Dog is his co-pilot

As Seen on The Planet's Funniest Animals!! ... OK, I don't know that, but he should be. This is Rally, co-pilot for our driver from Acme Shuttle who took us from Moab to the top of the Porcupine Rim Trail last weekend. Rally (a Jack Russell Terrier) kept us entertained during the ride by barking at and chasing the windshield wipers. Get 'em, Rally!

Walker,

Is Walker Ranch Park outside of Boulder named after you? And if so, how'd you manage that feat? :-)

Best summer biking vacation: To the Moon

By Contests on 9/18/2006 in contests
"Flat!...Goathead thorns continue to find me everywhere...even in space." --ehansen007

We asked YourMTB.com members what they did on their summer vacations, and made it into a contest. As it turned out, the best biking holiday was in someone's head!

Yes, the winner of the What did you do on your MTB vacation? contest is ehansen007, who wrote about "big air" and 30-foot bunny hops during his mountain biking vacation on the Moon.

Read it here.

We commend his creativity and enthusiasm for this contest. He even included photos! Well, yeah, some readers did wonder why the astronaut rider was casting a shadow but the bike wasn't.

For his fun essay, we're sending ehansen007 three pairs of Spenco MTB Series biking gloves (Trail Pro, Heat Wave and Cold Snap), so his hands will be covered properly no matter what weather he encounters. (We don't recommend even the Cold Snap gloves for the moon, however.)

Thanks to Spenco for providing the prizes for this contest.

The Story

Check out this amusingly gross cartoon about the dangers and fun of mountain biking. This is from Specialized and can be found on specializedmovies.com. The site also has a funny road biking video skit, too. ... This kind of marketing is cool. You'll never even realize that you're being pitched on buying Specialized bikes.
