Stoked for Florida - Preface

By MikeG on 3/8/2007 on MikeG's blog

I'm ready to go to a nice, warm sunny destination: Florida. My wife and kids and I have been looking forward to this vacation for a long time. It will be an adventure for all of us, since we have never been there, and it is about a 20 hour drive to get there.

I've been trying to carve a little time into our family vacation in Florida to do some mountain biking. I've got it all set now. User mattgeo has offered to show me around Alafia River State Park (Single tracks link). on Sunday the 11th. Turns out that him and a few others are camping there that weekend, so it has worked out well. This will be the first time my new bike (Giant XTC) will have seen warm weather, as I just picked it up in December.

The Story

Transardinia, the 7 day mountain bike journey north-south across the 2nd island of the Mediterranean sea. 450 km,11000 mt of total climb ... all » . Me and two friends explored an alternative trail ,a diversion for the bravest riders at the end of the 6th day .We had to stop and do a lot of work to re-open the trail invaded by the bushes . At the end of the day the trail was brought back to life, we could enjoy 4 km and 500 mt drop of freeriding bliss .the location is Armungia , a small village near Cagliari,Sardinia,Italy. for more info visit www.transardinia.it «

Where do you want to ride today?

By walker on 4/17/2006 on walker's blog

What's better than pouring over the internet on Easter looking for obscure mountain bike vacations? Give up? Creating a poll and asking other people to help you decide where to go. In other words, visit my poll. Please help me decide the best place to ride.
