A conversation with a Giant

By walker on 9/13/2006 on walker's blog

Have you heard a mountain bike mechanic describe his or herpassions, lately? Did they talk about this:

- The stupid rain

- A hard-technical-uphill-over-rock-thing

- That Chupacabra presence

- What's on for Friday?

Well, good. Then you probably know my mechanic friend.

- Parking lot fights with the racers

- Philosophical debates about road stems

(quoted from the site)
"Don't miss this unique, exhilarating Mountain Bike Relay event. This was the largest MTB event in New Zealand last year with over 3,000 riders.

Individuals, teams of two/three or four/five compete on an 8km, 30 minute circuit over 12 hours from 10.30am to 10.30pm. New for this year is the option of a 2/3 person team 6 hour event starting 10.30am and finishing 4.30pm. Both grades ride the same circuit which has been specifically designed for the event to cater for all ability levels.

The track includes fast open park grounds, awesome downhill, pine needle covered forest tracks, challenging single tracks and magnificent scenery including the mighty Waikato River."

By Steve Outing on 4/11/2006
Great New Zealand MTB guide (Queenstown)

On a trip to the South Island of New Zealand last year, I stole a day away from my family and went on a 30-km guided ride in the Dunstan Mountains near Queenstown. My guide was Greg McIntyre, owner of Fat Tyre Adventures. Great guy and great guide. He took us (via his Land Rover) up to the top and we cruised down (with plenty of uphills between valleys to make for a serious workout). This was all on private land that Greg has permission to ride. Didn't see another soul that day, just a close encounter with a jackrabbit. ... Look him up if you get to Quee
