Who rides a 29er?

Qball and the Burley Trailer

It seems to me that there is a bigger SS community of riders that have 29ers. I got one last August and its a breath of fresh air. Riding rigid and SS on a 29er is zen like. My 29er is a Scott Quiring Qball, a semi-custom made steel frame from Michigan.

Even guys in Kilts race too!

Even guys in Kilts race too!

Taken by my wife at the SSEC (SingleSpeed European Championships) in Piolenc, France. I was dubbed a member of the Deutsche SS team and donned the jersey shortly before the race. As it turned out, I ended up as the 1st place German (funny considering that I'm American).

Are singlespeed rides, like, uh the best for lunch?

<em>walker</em>'s picture
By walker on 5/30/2007

I ride my singlespeed at lunch. And, I ask, who wouldn't want to ride their singlespeed at lunch? Do I hear new American (from America, that is) tradition? Do I hear angels crying?

You might say that I've become a fanatic about singlespeed rides (there's a big surprise). But, where singlespeed rides really thrive for my life is during the lunch ride. That special time between work and play - I guess you're kind of in both spots...

Anyway, just wanted to share.

The Story

Ride with Ted in China Camp State park, in Marin County Calif. for some of the best single-track mountain biking in the area. The first video using the Canon PowerShot. Rode it, recorded VO, edited it, and posted it in a single day. All done on a Mac, of course.

My wild single speed ride

By walker on 12/1/2006 on walker's blog

I can't get enough of my single speed Gary Fisher 29er! Check out the footage of my ride through the Telegraph Hill trail system, near Durango, Colorado.

"One speed. Steep hills. NICE!"
