The Story

We got one of the world's best downhiller, Greg Minnaar, and asked him to think about some basic skills and techniques that would help anyone who rides a mountain bike be more confident and capable when the trail points downhill.  We loaded up the crew which included field producer Dan Herz, Videographer Jeremy Teman, and Greg's more than able assistant, Santa Cruz Syndicate team mate Jamie Goldman and headed out to the Forest of Nisene Marks in Atpos California.  Greg was great to work with, and we were all impressed with how much he cares about the heart and soul of mountain biking: the recreational rider.  We hope you enjoy the video.

Group Skill Levels Different - How to Handle?

<em>MikeG</em>'s picture
By MikeG on 7/6/2007

We have a regular group of people that ride together. The group fluctuates with people dropping out and coming in. Naturally, we have different levels of riders with us at any given time.

I really believe in promoting MTB and introducing it to others, sort of paying forward, in return for the guys that got me started. Without insulting the new guys, and holding back the experienced riders, I don't know how we can make everybody happy.

Lory State Park Pump Track/Jump Park

By Evan on 11/6/2006 on Evan's blog

Me and my friend Grant headed up to Lory State Park yesterday to check out the jump park/pump track they got going up there, and here's a report if you haven't been!

So first things first - if you go, BRING SPARE TUBES! The ground is still pretty littered with goatheads, and it can make for a long day if you don't bring tubes. We talked to some people that said they Slimed their tubes just for riding here. Grant and I both caught flats, and had to wander over to Road 34 to pick up spares. Thanks to Matt who was manning the counter at Road 34 for getting us what we need! We rocked the thorn-resistant variety and that seemed to work very well! I'd be willing to bet that the more the park gets used the goathead problem will eventually go away as more people pick up the nasty little buggers with their tires and take them out of the park.
