By NVMtBiker on 8/9/2008 My buddy Brandon high above Sand Harbor on a recent trip up to Tahoe. This is the famed and historic Flume Trail that contours along the eastern (Nevada) side of the lake. Nothing particularly technical about most of the trail. The Flume itself is not especially difficult, but the exposure in some sections can be unnerving. The trail is what remains of a Silver Rush era ditch/pipeline that carried water and timber over the mountains to Carson City. In some places, you can still find the old wooden pipes intact. Of course the scenery is what makes the trail. |
