Description
This a really cool trail. Its part of the original trail network that was created in the 90s and beyond on the North Shore. Its a black diamond but it isn't really that hard but be careful as there are a lot of rocky sections and so on.

start at KMART in Loveland (hwy 34/wilson.) ride north on wilson for 6 miles. head up Coyote Ridge, down Rim Rock, through Blue Sky and over Devil's Backbone ...then back to KMART. tons of fun

Here is some footage of one of the singletrack trails on the Abyss ( Nanaimo, BC ) Takes you through some winding, hilly sections, through to the compass and then to the clearcut and beyond. Tight, fast and fun.

Little clip of Dave and I zipping (latter part of the video) through a trail called Tonka. Very fast and as you'll see - Dave makes a new exit point at the end of the trail.

What's harder: pedaling up or riding technical down?

Anyone who rides technical downhill knows that it feels like hard effort going down. Unless the terrain is so calm that you're on your seat on the way down, you probably feel tired and are breathing hard by the time you get to the bottom. But it's still easier than climbing, right?

It may sound counterintuitive, but technical downhill can give you as much as or more of a workout than climbing uphill. A University of Victoria physical education masters student has demonstrated that downhill riding indeed does give you a good workout.
